I am passionate about books for children.
Sarah Jane Abbott is an experienced editor who has spent over ten years making books for children. She got her start at Simon & Schuster’s Paula Wiseman Books and Beach Lane Books, where she had the pleasure of working with many wonderful authors and illustrators including Samantha M. Clark, Samantha Cotterill, Scott Magoon, Anita Lobel, Alice B. McGinty and Alan B. Havis, and Diane Goode. In 2020, she established Sarah Jane Abbott Editorial, and works with authors and publishers on a wide range of projects including developmental editing, copyediting and proofreading, and ghostwriting. Recent clients include Big Five publishers, boutique independent publishers, a New York Times bestselling author, and a major New York City museum. Ghostwriting projects have ranged from a middle grade memoir to picture book biographies to a book in the Hardy Boys Adventures series.
She is a frequent public speaker and presenter and has given lectures and workshops at SCBWI conferences across the country as well as other organizations and events including the Rutgers University Council on Children’s Literature (RUCCL) One-on-One Plus Conference, Inked Voices, The Writing Barn, and the Children’s Writers of the Hudson Valley Conference.
She is a former writer and editorial board member for Off the Shelf. Find her lists and reviews here: https://offtheshelf.com/author/sarahjane-abbott/.
She is also a former writer for Riveted Lit. Her lists and posts are here: https://rivetedlit.com/profile/sarah-jane-abbott/.
When she isn’t reading or editing, you can find her knitting, drinking tea, or trying to master the art of baking a macaron that would meet Mary Berry’s standards.
